Saltcoats St Cuthbert's Parish Church of Scotland This Website is designed to tell you about St Cuthbert's Parish Church, Saltcoats, which is a member of the Church of Scotland. It was formerly Ardrossan Parish Church and the first Parish church was built in Ardrossan in 1230 AD. The present church, designed by Dr McGregor Chalmers in a Norman style, was built in 1908,and contains some very fine stained glass windows by Percy Bacon, Gordon Webster and William Wilson, and is a fine example of early twentieth century architecture. Carved on the stone walls and on some of the extremely attractive pillars are Scripture texts and some of the internal facing stones also have decorative crosses. Saltcoats is a town in North Ayrshire situated across the Firth of Clyde from Arran. Towns in Scotland are divided into Parishes and St Cuthbert's is one of three Parish Churches in Saltcoats, the others being North Parish and New Trinity. Services are held at 11.15am every Sunday and visitors are made very welcome. To view the various photographs in this site click on the items under Gallery and Photo Albums.
