Country Dancing The Club was formed 50 years ago. At the start the club was only open to church members and records comfirm that turnout was high. Scottish Country Dancing at this time, was a popular form of entertainment and recreation. Today the club is open to everyone and caters for all stages of dance. Our present teacher and instructor is Mr Oluf Olufson, a member of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. He is a keen dancer and a member of the Ayr branch demonstration team. He is also good at his job and popular with members. All our dances are taken from the Society's books and leaflets. Country Dancing is very good exercise for body and mind and one must be alert and thinking of what comes next. Things, of course, don't always go right and the dance will sometimes break down, which leads to great hilarity. The most important factor of our club is friendship and the social atmosphere is tremendous. The tea break is a welcome respite from the dance. The club meets each Monday evening at 7.30pm in the main hall of the church. The music is provided from a CD player. Live music is available on party nights, which are occasions when other clubs join us. Each dance, prior to start, is recapped by our insructor and ofen we walk the dance through before dancing. Anyone interested in joining our club would be most welcome. Beginners will be well looked after and Oluf will ensure that you are put at ease. So come along you might have a new talent Nancy Smith | ||||||
